Welcome to NWFIA

The "Northwest Check Investigators Association" was founded in 1929 by ten ardent law enforcement officers who saw the possibility of curbing the ever increasing problem of "bad check passing". On October 21, 1989, the name of the Association was changed to the Northwest Fraud Investigators Association (NWFIA) to reflect the expanded responsibilities of our members.

Working Together to Stop Fraud

NWFIA is governed by an Executive Board comprised of the most recent Past President, current President, five VPs, Secretary, and Treasurer. The NWFIA membership includes experienced investigators in all levels of law enforcement, banking and business; all work together in an effort to stop the multi-million dollar fraud industry. NWFIA holds two conference per year.  Each conference features informative speakers on a wide variety of topics.  Additionally, information about "bad paper", stolen credit cards, wanted persons and fraud in general is shared at each of the conferences, which is a tremendous opportunity to network with fellow investigators.  The Association's purpose is to secure the full cooperation of all those interested in the location, apprehension, prosecution and conviction of all persons defrauding the public.

Why you should be an NWFIA member!

If you are a law enforcement officer who works financial crimes, a bank or credit union investigator, or handle loss prevention and fraud investigations in any public or private organization, you should be a member of NWFIA.  We have a great mix of public and private entities in our organization, all with the same goal.  By becoming a member you will have access to a long list of fraud investigators not only in the Pacific Northwest, but across the country.  Join now!
